Here are some of the questions I get asked the most, and what my answers have been. This way you can get your answers immediately, without having to wait on me. And you never know, you might find answers to a few questions you didn't even know you had yet.

*This is still a work in progress. I'm continuing to add many more questions, and we are still ironing out a few quirks. But we wanted to make this available as soon as possible.

Question:
Are all conditioners created equal?
Answer:
I do have to say that the technique of leaving in the conditioner won't work with any conditioner. Some have sticky ingredients (similar ingredients to those in gels and hairsprays), which will build up and get crunchy and sticky. Some have very damaging ingredients like ammonium xylenesulfonate. Others are too light, and won't help at all.

Especially when you're just starting out, it's best to try the conditioners I recommend on my site because they don't have those types of ingredients that build up or hurt your hair. As long as the conditioner is okay, then it's okay to leave it in your hair.

Some conditioners have salt in them (salt is often used as a cheap thickener). That's fine if you are going to rinse it out of your hair, but would be bad to leave in your hair. None of the conditioners I recommend for leaving in your hair have salt (well, unless they changed the dern ingredients and I don't know about it yet). Some aren't slippery enough, so the force needed to get a comb or Denman though our thick curls will damage it.
