Here are some of the questions I get asked the most, and what my answers have been. This way you can get your answers immediately, without having to wait on me. And you never know, you might find answers to a few questions you didn't even know you had yet.

*This is still a work in progress. I'm continuing to add many more questions, and we are still ironing out a few quirks. But we wanted to make this available as soon as possible.

There are several ways to choose the question(s) you'd like answered:

Question:
Have you tried Queen Helene Royal Curl moisture rich conditioner?
Answer:
Actually, I have tried it. I was excited because I found it in Whole Foods, and it was a product that looked like it was geared more for those of us of color. I liked the scent. The ingredients all seemed okay.

My first clue that maybe it wasn't the best was it was hard to comb my hair with it. It sort of made me feel a little overwhelmed and tired. But I finished, and I thought that if it dried nicely, I could still give it a good review, but with a caution that it was not great for combing. Or maybe recommend it as a rinsing conditioner. So I defined my curls with it (in order for me to recommend it as a good combing conditioner, it not only needs to pass the combing test (which this barely did), but it needs to keep my curls nicely defined and moisturized. So I defined my curls with it.

However, after about three days of it in my hair, my hair not only began feeling dry, it started tangling up a bit. By the end of the week I stopped using it. I didn't even want to use it as a rinsing conditioner.

I'm working to see if I can narrow down exactly what ingredient (or ingredients) caused my hair to feel dry.

So all this is to say that unfortunately, I can't recommend this product as a combing and defining conditioner for this method.
