Question:
I've been using your methods for a year now, and my hair still seems to be damaged from my past treatment of it.
Answer:
I'm so glad that you have been using these methods! They really will make your hair happier. The problem is that once hair has been damaged, there is absolutely nothing you can do to heal it, no matter how well you treat it (and no matter what a hair care company says to sell you products). All you can do is prevent any more damage from happening to it, which is what you are working on now.
And when your new growth comes in and replaces this damaged hair, and you treat it well and don't damage it again, that's when you will see all that gorgeous growth. I know waiting can be frustrating, but it will totally be worth it. Plus you are learning great skills and forming new habits so that taking care of your new growth in a healthy way will be second nature when it comes in. And by using these techniques, you are protecting the precious new growth that is coming in now. So when you are ready to do the big chop, the hair that's left will be glossy, strong, and healthy—and you will be able to keep it that way.
