Question:
What Do You Think About Using Gel?
Answer:
I don't think gel is that good for our hair. It usually has ingredients that can build up (such as PVP, Acrylates, or Vinyl), and then you'll need stronger shampoos to get it out. Also, it tends to make our hair stiff and crunchy, which will cause lots of breakage, especially if you try to brush, comb, or style it. Gels also often have ingredients in them that can dry out your hair (such as SD Alcohol 40).
With all these drawbacks, gels also aren't really necessary. Leaving in a good combing conditioner helps define and smooth our curls, and weigh down our hair while moisturizing it, without the stiffness.
