Here are some of the questions I get asked the most, and what my answers have been. This way you can get your answers immediately, without having to wait on me. And you never know, you might find answers to a few questions you didn't even know you had yet.

Question:
Will I get The Mat when growing out my relaxer?
Answer:
Whether you get the mat depends on how different your new growth's texture is from the chemical hair's texture. If your new growth is curly, you will start to see shiny tight waves coming in at your scalp. The two textures can be quite different, as it was for me.

If you do get the mat, know that your new growth is not the same hair as the hair in the Mat. It's totally different from the Mat, though it may seem like the same thing at first. At the place where your tighter waves and curls growing from your scalp is attached to the straighter, damaged older hair, the difference in the textures and health of these types of hair from each other is extreme. So by them being attached to each other causes the mat. This is not your new growth's fault, and when your chemical hair is gone, so will the mat. But at first it will seem like the mat is your new growth. It isn't. It's just a phase that many of us must go through. But stick with it. As time goes by, you will see the mat inch down your head, and you will cut that off in time, when you get rid of any remaining chemical hair.
