Question:
Will these techniques weatherproof my hair?
Answer:
Leaving in the conditioner (but only the right kinds of conditioners I recommend -- the wrong kind will be too light, leave your hair sticky or crunchy, or even could have ingredients that are bad for your hair) has weatherproofed my hair. The photo where I'm sitting in a chair at the very bottom of the Photo History page shows me after I walked in heavy Seattle drizzle for about three hours (the trick is every so often to smooth your hands over your hair to evenly distribute the water). This also works for extreme humidity. I visit my mom in KY, where we have days of 100% humidity without rain, and my hair looks fine. That's why I was so excited to discover this solution, because it does weatherproof my curls. I mean, if you're totally drenched in a downpour, so the conditioner is totally rinsed away, your curls will puff up, but if you've taken the time to define them, they will still stay pretty well clumped.
